There are many conservatives on here, even “compassionate” Christians, who say things like “Why should I pay taxes to help the poor – they’re usually just too lazy to get a job…”
Now more than ever, corporate boards and CEO’s don’t hesitate to throw even their most loyal employees out onto the street if they can make a few more dollars profit by doing so. Profits – isn’t that what it’s all about?
So you’ve lost your job, along with health insurance on your family. Maybe lost your house. Maybe your unemployment ran out and you have no income.
Or you’re a single, unwed mother – maybe got raped or made a mistake – but decided to keep the baby (”pro-life” perhaps?).
Many (not all) McCain supporters and apoligists for the Bush administration say it’s your fault – you’re too lazy to get a job. You’re irresponsible. You’re a drain on society.
“Why should I have to pay taxes to support people like that,” they say.
